Larry Darnell Fitzgerald, Jr. was an American football wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the University of Pittsburgh, and earned All-American honors.
The Arizona Cardinals chose Fitzgerald with the third overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, and he has played his entire professional career for the team. He has been selected for the Pro Bowl ten times, and currently ranks fourth all-time in NFL history in receiving yards per game for a career (76.0 yards per game), behind Andre Johnson, Torry Holt, and Marvin Harrison.

Fitzgerald announced he would return for the 2019 season, and signed a one-year contract extension with the Cardinals.
Week 1, 2019
Against the Detroit Lions, Fitzgerald caught eight passes for 113 yards and one touchdown from quarterback Kyler Murray in the 27-27 tie.
Week 2, 2019
A 23-17 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, he had five receptions for 104 receiving yards for his first back-to-back games with over 100 receiving yards since Weeks 2-3 of the 2015 season.
Week 4, 2019
27-10 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, he passed Tony Gonzalez for second-most career receptions in NFL history.

Fitzgerald recorded seven receptions for 76 yards in a loss to the Washington Redskins.
Week 7, 2018
Nursing a sore hamstring, he failed to reach 50 yards in any of his next six games, and did not record a touchdown reception until Week 7, 2018 against the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football.
Week 8, 2018
He had eight receptions for 102 yards with a touchdown and a two-point conversion in the victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
Week 10, 2018
Against the Kansas City Chiefs after recording six receptions for 50 yards, Fitzgerald reached 15,952 career receiving yards, passing Terrell Owens for second on the all-time list behind only Jerry Rice.
Week 11, 2018
Against the Oakland Raiders, Fitzgerald made two catches for 23 yards which were both touchdowns. The Cardinals lost to the Raiders 23–21.
Week 16, 2018
Fitzgerald threw the first touchdown pass of his NFL career. After taking a lateral pass from Josh Rosen, he tossed a 32-yard pass to David Johnson for the first Cardinals score, to temporarily lead the Los Angeles Rams in what would become a 31–9 loss.

He finished the season as the Cardinals leading receiver with 69 receptions for a career-low 734 yards, plus six touchdowns.

With the retirement of Steve Smith and Anquan Boldin at the end of 2016, the 34-year-old Fitzgerald entered the 2017 season as the career leader in receptions and receiving yards among active players.

On Monday Night Football, Fitzgerald had 149 receiving yards on 13 receptions and a touchdown in a loss to the Dallas Cowboys, his highest output in almost three years.
Week 4, 2017
He caught a 19-yard walk-off touchdown from Palmer with 0:31 left in overtime to defeat the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 18–15.

Fitzgerald had 10 receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown against Tampa Bay, and 10 receptions for 113 yards in Week 10’s Thursday Night loss to Seattle, joining Antonio Brown as the only players with three games of 10+ receptions in 2017, and briefly passing Brown for the league lead in receptions.

Against the Los Angeles Rams, Fitzgerald had 10 receptions (his fourth game in double-digits) for 98 yards and his fifth touchdown.

Fitzgerald helped his quarterback Carson Palmer record his first playoff win with 8 catches for 176 yards in the NFC Divisional Playoffs against the Green Bay Packers. Fitzgerald was the Cardinals’ entire offense in overtime, with a 75-yard reception to open overtime, and a 5-yard touchdown reception from Palmer two plays later, which resulted in a 26-20 win.

Fitzgerald reached his 100th career touchdown in the season opening loss to the Patriots. He became just the 10th player to accomplish the feat.

Fitzgerald was signed to a new multi-year contract worth at least $11 million guaranteed over the next two seasons. In week two against the Chicago Bears, Fitzgerald caught three touchdown passes, the first time he accomplished the feat, during the regular season, in his career. For the 2015 season, Fitzgerald had 109 catches for 1,215 yards and 9 touchdowns. For his accomplishments during the 2015 season, Fitzgerald was selected to the Pro Bowl for the ninth time.
2014
Fitzgerald was selected as the 2014 Henry P. Iba Citizen Athlete Male Recipient, which was created in 1994 by the Rotary Club of Tulsa to recognize an influential male and female premiere athlete for their success in their sport and for being a positive role model who gives back to their communities.

2013 Season
Fitzgerald was honored with the NFL Players Association Georgetown Lombardi Award. The award was established to honor a leader in the sports industry whose life and family have been touched by cancer, and who encourages cancer research, prevention and treatment through awareness and philanthropy.
Following the 2012 Football Season
Fitzgerald was named the “Arizona Cardinals/Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year” and was one of three finalists for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award. In August 2012, he was honored with the 14th annual Pro Football Weekly Arthur S. Arkush Humanitarian Award for his community and charitable contributions.
2011, 2012 and 2014 Offseasons
Fitzgerald joined other NFL players partaking in mission trips to Africa, India, Thailand and the Philippines to support economic development projects. He has worked with Starkey Hearing Foundation to provide hearing aids for children and adults in need in eight countries. Fitzgerald has also made five USO tours to visit soldiers overseas and has raised financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. military.

Larry was selected as a starter for the Pro Bowl. It was his sixth Pro Bowl selection. With 1,411 receiving yards in 2011, Larry became just the fourth player in NFL history to record at least 1,400 receiving yards four times in their career – joining Jerry Rice (6), Randy Moss (4) and Marvin Harrison (4). In rankings based on a poll of current players, Larry came in at #7 on NFL Network’s Top 100 players of 2012.

Larry was honored for the fifth time being named to the Pro Bowl. And despite the Cardinal’s struggles during the season, Larry recorded 90 receptions for 1,137 yard, and 6 touchdowns. In his first seven seasons, Larry recorded 8,204 yards, 613 receptions, and 65 touchdowns.

Earned his third consecutive and fourth overall Pro Bowl selection in 2009. Became the first Cardinals player since Aeneas Williams (1994-99) to be selected to the Pro Bowl three consecutive seasons and tied Mel Gray (1974-77) for the most Pro Bowl selections by a Cardinals wide receiver. Earned MVP honors in the 2008 Pro Bowl in the NFC’s 30-21 victory over the AFC.

For the second consecutive season, set a single-season-high and tied for the NFL lead with 13 receiving TDs in 2009. Became the first player to lead the NFL in receiving TDs in back-to-back seasons since Terrell Owens accomplished the feat in 2001-02.

With 13 TD receptions in 2009, became the first player in franchise history to record 10+ TDs in three consecutive seasons. Recorded 12 TD receptions in 2009 and 10 in ’07. Now has 59 TD receptions for his career, the third-highest total in franchise history, trailing only Roy Green (66) and Sonny Randle (60).

Against the Lions in Week 15 of the ’09 season, reached 7,000 receiving yards for his career. At 26 years, 111 days old, he became the youngest player in NFL history to reach the career milestone, surpassing the previous record held by Randy Moss (26 years, 220 days old).

With his two TD receptions in the Wild Card contest vs. Green Bay in 2009, recorded at least one TD reception in his first five consecutive postseason games, tying the third-longest streak in NFL postseaon history. Only John Stallworth (8) and David Givens (7) had longer streaks. The two receiving TDs against Green Bay gave him multiple TD receptions in three consecutive postseason games, joining Ernest Givens (1989-91) as the only players in history to accomplish that feat.

Had one of the best postseasons of any player in NFL history during the Cardinals run to Super Bowl XLIII in 2008, shattering the NFL single postseason record for receptions (30), receiving yards (546), and receiving TDs (7). His 30 receptions surpassed the previous record of 27, shared by Carolina’s Steve Smith (2005) and New England’s Wes Welker (2007). His 546 receiving yards surpassed Jerry Rice’s 1988 total of 409 yards and his seven TD receptions topped Rice’s 1988 total of six.

Larry had a memorable football career at the University of Pittsburgh. Larry’s 2,677 receiving yards make him one of the top receivers in Panther history and Big East Conference history. In his sophomore year, Larry had an awe-inspiring 92 receptions for 1,672 yards and 22 touchdowns. In 2003, after just two seasons, Larry broker the school career touchdown record with 34 touchdowns, and holds and incredible streak of at least one touchdown catch in 18 consecutive games. Additionally, he remains the first player in Panther history with back-to-back seasons totaling over 1,000 receiving yards. As a result, in 2003 Larry was the winner of the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, an award reserved for the best player in college football, the Fred Biletnikoff Award, presented to the nation’s top college football receiver, and became a Heisman Trophy finalist.
